The Regional Vice-Minister of European Affairs, Rafael Ripoll emphasized that day that “The Valencian Region acquired in the last two years a remarkable performance in the fight against the climate change and in the development of energy efficiency, among the countries from the Mediterranean region.”

He also added that the Valencian Region turned into a European region specialized in European policies such as the fight against the climate change or the new energies and that it made a “real and decided commitment” out of them.

As well, he remembered the 125 ways that the Valencian Strategy is using to eradicate the climate change, as well as the support offered by the Valencian Government for the renewable energies through the Wind Energy Plan and the Solar Energy Plan.
Rafael Ripoll expressed himself this way during his participation, together with the European Commission for External Affairs and European Policy of Liaison, Benita Ferrero, to the Second Euro-Mediterranean Meeting: Energy Resources and Regional Development, a Necessary Debate.

This meeting gathered in Javea various economic, cultural and political representatives, in order to analyze the future of the renewable energies and the relations with other Mediterranean countries.

It is important to underline the presence to the meeting of the Libyan Minister of Energy, Mahmoud Enng, the European Commission for External Affairs and European Policy of Liaison, Benita Ferrero, and the president of the Spanish Club of Energy, Antonio Brufao.
During his intervention, the Vice-minister made a special reference to the work that the Valencian Government is making in the development of best European practices and emphasized the “importance to extend these good experiences to other European regions.”
“The fight against desertification and the climate change, the immigration policies and energy efficiency take part of the European policies and the Valencian Region develops a fundamental work in each and one of them, fact that allowed them to become a European referent”, added Mr. Ripoll.

He underlined the fact that the Valencian Region is the leader of an adaptation strategy in line with the European policy of energy efficiency. He highlighted the fact that “the Valencian Region multiplies the European projects and initiatives in order to obtain a surer and sustainable energy”.

Mr. Ripoll added that the Ministry, through the Fundación Comunidad Valenciana – Region Europea, has a key role in the development of conferences and seminars about energy efficiency at a European level, as well as in the notifications of intelligent energy and INTERREG IVC among others, for example through its participation to the MORE4NRG project.

This way, he emphasized that “the Valencian Region is not only the head of the European actions concerning the energy strategy, but it is also turning these actions into opportunities of development through investigation and knowledge”.

Finally, the Vice-minister assured that “we are a region that works starting with the action and we don’t limit ourselves only to observe the consequences of the European policies application”.
